WHY I'M RUNNING

After careful consideration, consulting with family, friends and valued professional associates, I decided to enter the race for Travis County District Attorney.

As a seasoned prosecutor with almost a decade of experience in the DA's office, I have served in the Trial Court Division, the Family Justice Division and the Public Integrity Unit. My case work in more than 100 jury trials has given me valuable experience prosecuting murders, aggravated assaults, sexual assaults and a variety of child abuse and family violence offenses.

I grew up in Austin - earning undergraduate and law degrees at the University of Texas - so I know first-hand the challenges we face. My vision is one I'm certain the voters of Travis County share. It is a vision of:
safe streets;
safe children;
justice vigorously pursued and fairly administered for all our citizens, and of
public servants who are accountable to their constituents.

I pledge to bring a new energy to this office. If elected I intend to provide a 24-hour intake office so prosecutors are available to law-enforcement officers whenever arrests take place. I also will work vigorously to minimize the time required between indictment and prosecution.

Campaigning for District Attorney will be a full-time job; so is acting as Assistant District Attorney. Accordingly, I have taken an unpaid leave of absence for the duration of this campaign, so I can concentrate on how to best serve the people of Travis County as their next District Attorney.

I think it's the right thing to do.
