Austin Central Labor Council endorses Montford for DA

AUSTIN, TX. (Jan. 12, 2008) - The Austin Central Labor Council (AFL-CIO), representing teachers, firefighters, building trades, communication workers, county, city and state employees, today endorsed Mindy Montford for Travis County District Attorney.

Montford has worked as a felony prosecutor for Travis County since 1999 serving in the Trial Court Division, Family Justice Division and the Public Integrity Unit.

Louis Malfaro, president of the Austin Central Labor Council, the umbrella organization of all Central Texas unions affiliated with the AFL-CIO says, "It's clear Montford's energy, experience and expertise as an assistant district attorney in several areas, especially that of the Public Integrity Unit, will make her an excellent district attorney and will move this county forward in the right direction. The issues and challenges facing Travis County over the past three decades, since retiring DA Ronnie Earle took office, have grown tremendously and Montford has the mental toughness and intellect to best serve the people of Travis County."

Montford says she's honored to receive the endorsement of The Austin Central Labor Council. "To garner this endorsement from the people who work tirelessly making a positive difference in our classrooms, our courthouses, in the construction industry and all across this great community is humbling," she said "and I look forward to serving them as the next Travis County District Attorney."
