MINDY MONTFORD
Mindy Montford has lived in Austin, Texas since she was six years old. She graduated from Westwood High School and received both her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Texas.
Montford started her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County, Texas. Beginning in 1997 she served as the General Counsel to State Senator Eddie Lucio. In the fall of 1999, Montford accepted a position with the Travis County District Attorney's Office where she has served as a prosecutor.
During her time with the Travis County District Attorney's Office, Montford has worked in the Trial Court Division, Family Justice Division, and the Public Integrity Unit. She has tried more than 100 jury trials throughout her career prosecuting crimes of murder, aggravated assault, burglary, robbery, aggravated sexual assault, child abuse, and assault family violence to name a few.
In addition to serving as a prosecutor, Montford is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Texas School of Law. She volunteers for Mothers Against Drunk Driving as a guest speaker at the Victim Impact Panel meetings explaining the legal consequences of being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. In 2005, Montford co-hosted a weekly television news series titled Court Files.
Throughout her career as a prosecutor, Montford has been asked to appear as a guest speaker at numerous panel discussions and as a lecturer on legislative issues involving the criminal justice system. She has testified before various legislative committees as a resource witness on changes to the Texas Penal Code and Code of Criminal Procedure.
